Hal ini disebabkan karena persyaratan kualitas warna di Indonesia adalah 10 TCU (total color unit, setara dengan Hazen atau mg\/L Pt-Co) untuk air minum dan 10 TCU untuk air bersih untuk tujuan sanitasi. (World Health Organization merekomendasikan agar warna air minum tidak melebihi 15 TCU).
