Chemical Oxygen Demand, COD sensor for quick and environmentally-friendly water monitoring

22 February 2025 – Increasing human and industrial activity which are not managed properly can lead to detrimental condition of the natural water bodies. One of the major contaminations is by organic pollution from domestic and industrial waste into lakes, rivers, or seawater. High organic waste content increases the oxygen demand in the water that receives it, hence dramatically disrupts the natural balance. For example, microorganisms will grow rapidly consuming the organic waste and deplete the oxygen in the water, killing natural organisms, such as the fish and water plants. It is even worse if the organic waste source are toxic substances. Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) dan Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) are common indicator parameters to organic pollution in surface water or wastewater.
